I think it’s the melancholy.
I wasn’t going to share a song today. I’ve had a gnawing melancholy that’s making me devote energy to just the essentials.
I don’t know how much of it is the early inklings of seasonal depression, how much is the tone of the national dialogue right now, how much is the loss of a friend to a drunk driver last Friday, and how much is just everything on my plate at the moment.
So, anyway, yeah. Stuff.
But I missed sharing a song last week because I was on the road. (Baby shower for my first grandchild. *Happy dance!*)
And then this song crossed my path again today.
And suddenly it was easy to share.
Music is cool that way.
This is another song that I’ve loved from the moment I heard it. Amy Lee has always been one of my favorites, and her voice is amazing. In Broken, her duet with Shaun Morgan is next level. The harmonies are haunting and beautiful and perfectly convey the emotional theme.
The classical strings woven into the background also evoke a timelessness to the message, which is a very human experience of loneliness and longing.
And the chorus is absolute gold.
I hope you’re doing well. Overall, things are good here. Just a bit of an emotional dip. It happens this time of year for me. (Not always this early, but it’s familiar.)
I hope you enjoy the artistry in this week’s #MusicMonday, Broken by Seether, featuring Amy Lee.
